WEB-O-TECH COMPETITION AT THE
�CENTRE DU SAVOIR�
The Acadian Peninsula Web-O-Tech competition regional finals were held
Saturday, April 3, 2004, at the Acadian Peninsula�s Centre du Savoir, in
Paquetville.
Web-O-Tech is first and foremost an introductory course to computers,
specifically designed for 10 to 14 year olds. The curriculum includes names
of computer parts, basic Windows shortcuts, computer terminology and general
use of Word, PowerPoint, FrontPage, Internet Explorer, etc.
Some of the young people who attended Web-O-Tech training sessions and who
completed the learning modules took part in a local competition, through
which a winner was chosen in each participating CAC.
Finalists included Rapha�l Albert, from Shippagan, Martin Savoie, from
Bas-Caraquet, Jonathan Levinski, from Bertrand, Marie-Jos�e Landry, from
Inkerman, Jos�e Hach�, from St-Isidore and Jonathan Duguay, from Ste-Rose.
Acadian Peninsula finalists are Rapha�l Albert, from Shippagan (1st place)
and Martin Savoie, from Bas-Caraquet (2nd place). Both will represent the
Acadian Peninsula at the provincial finals in Fredericton, on April 16,
2004, where they will be defending their title against other finalists from
New Brunswick�s South-East, Restigouche-Chaleur, and North-West regions.
Judges for the Acadian Peninsula competition were Mrs. Fernande Comeau, Mrs.
C�line Kenny and Mr. Venance Th�riault, manager at the Community Access
Center - Centre du Savoir .
